Carmel Café & Wine Bar has announced plans to expand in the Sarasota/Bradenton area and to open its first freestanding location in South Tampa in coming months.
Carmel, a bistro-style restaurant serving modern Mediterranean cuisine, is renovating a 4,000-square-foot space at The Shoppes at University Center, a retail development between Sarasota and Bradenton, with plans to open a restaurant in late May.
Construction is under way on a 4,000-square-foot restaurant at 3601 W. Swann Ave. in Tampa, scheduled to open in the summer. It will be Carmel Café’s first freestanding prototype restaurant.
The first Carmel Café opened in Clearwater in late 2010. A second location in Carrollwood opened in September 2011.
Its founding partners are Chris Sullivan, Terry Ryan, Nancy Schneid, Keith Sedita and Alex Sullivan.
